About

I’ve been meaning to do my ‘about’ page for ages, and WordPress prompts you to do so! So here it is…

This blog is about my journey into drawing and painting in and around the area of Jimena de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain. I have been living here for the last 10 years, along with a tall bearded man from Dorset and a wild, crazy beast masquerading as a tabby cat πŸ™‚ I have not had any formal art training., but I hope that my pictures are improving as I go along! I am certainly enjoying doing them.

Other things, which are nothing at all to do with this blog…prior to living here we were in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and we have also lived in Portugal, Cairo and Prague…originally I am from Glastonbury in Somerset (and yes, I used to know Michael Eavis the festival owner when I was a child,Β  but not now so don’t ask me for tickets….)

I am a vegan because I do not believe animals are ours to use, wear or eat, and I have been for about 25 years and vegetarian before that (and I’m doing OK on it too which is a bonus!).

I am an atheist and I try to have a skeptical approach to life, so if you have any big mystical or magical claims I will need to see some evidence, please!

If that lot hasn’t put you off, then I hope you enjoy my little blog and thanks very much for visiting πŸ™‚

  2. Hello Wendy, thanks for liking my recent post and for coming on board at The Reluctant Retiree. I hope you find stories which interest and entertain. I like what you are doing with your blog. I started to read the story of Khallis in Cairo and found myself intrigued by it. I recently read a memoir on a slight similar theme: Nefertiti Street by Pamela Bradley. You might find something which you can identify with if you can get yours hands on a copy.

  3. Be grateful for you tabby cat; my tabby is a wildling but a cutie when compared to the havoc that my black cat wreaks! And yes, apparently the colour of the fur has some influence on the cat’s behaviour, mad though it sounds.
