Happy 2015! New Year grapes…a Spanish tradition

Grapes

It is the tradition here in Spain, to eat a single grape at each chime of the clock as we move into a new year. I believe it is meant to bring luck/ward off evil/ the usual! It is actually easier if you buy the tinned ones, as they come peeled and pipless. These are neither, but temptingly lush (I confess to having a mouth watering moment and pinched one from the back of the bunch šŸ™‚ ) You are also meant to wear red knickers so I’d better go and have a rummage through my drawers later šŸ˜‰

  1. All the best to you in 2015! šŸ˜€ I’ve heard of this before! My friend whose mom is Cuban always did this on New Year’s. She said that you are supposed to eat 12 grapes (one for each month), but that you must do it between the time the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Day and 12:01! So you only have a single minute to eat them all šŸ™‚ Challenge accepted!
