It’s RAINING in Andalucia and I don’t fancy getting out there sketching at the moment, so I decided to attemptย a summer sky with grasses. Worked from a photo taken back in the summer.
I can verify Wendy’s weather news, living not so far away. This summer was particularly long and hot, lasting till only a couple of weeks ago. Nevertheless, I’m already looking forward to spring.
I love watercolor best of all. It behaves in such a mysterious way when it hits the paper. Do you know who John Singer Sargent is? He’s the master. I saw a retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum and still haven’t caught my breath.
Yes, I know of him. These masters can indeed take your breath away. There is something about seeing and standing in front of the original work that cannot compare to anything else.
Excellent, love the sky and the way the grasses sore into it!

It seems to be improving… but I can’t leave the house without a brolly. Reminds me of London ๐

Nice work. What medium are you working in here? Watercolor? Gouache? Some pen and ink, I’m guessing.

Watercolour, then some pen on top of the grasses for more definition ๐
