Pencil drawing of the little bridge that forges the river García Bravo. This bridge was recently restored and used to be the main way into Jimena from the Algeciras-Ronda road. I didn’t know the name of this smaller river but whilst I was sketching an old chap stopped to see what I was doing so I asked him, and he also told me it used to be the main road into Jimena. I had hoped to get down the bottom nearer the river but one side was fenced off and the other side would have been a scramble through the undergrowth and I wasn’t suitably attired (as per usual…)
I love the shading

I’m not sure how I found your blog, but I absolutely love your drawings. I lived in Spain when I was a child, so these tickle my memories, especially the dancers…beautiful.

Thank you! Where in Spain did you live?

Hi Wendy…yes, I lived on a road that led into a deep, green forest from Madrid. My word, that was a long time ago. My adopted parents were always gone, so I was raised by this lovely Spanish woman. Ever since then I’ve been dreaming of going back to Spain and marrying a Spanish girl.

This has come out really well after all the agonising about the reflection. Well done!

I’m so pleased that local councils still can find the bits of money to restore places like this. 🙂 SD

Yes, things have to be maintained; they are currently working on our castle so I’ll have to get back up there when it’s finished. Thanks for your comments 🙂
